Electric Bikes (E-Bikes) are an increasingly popular choice for those who are trying to be car-free or even less car dependent. The wide range of options available and the high cost of a quality e-bike can be a barrier for individuals who aren’t sure if an e-bike is a good fit for them. The UO E-Bike Lending Library provides a free, two-week rental of an e-bike to students and employees. Participants will have the opportunity to use the e-bike for commuting as well as other life needs like errands, shopping, or recreation.
About the Program
After filling out the sign-up form below, participants will be contacted when an e-bike they are interested in is available. After a short orientation at the UO Bike Program, participants will have use of the e-bike for two weeks. NOTE: the current wait time for an e-bike is about 2-3 months from sign up.
About the Bikes
All bikes will come with standard equipment:
- Lights
- Fenders
- Panniers
- Locks
A helmet will be made available to all participants who do not have their own.

Research Partnership
Transportation Services is partnering with UO researchers Anne Brown, Marc Shlossberg, and Thomas Gotschi to understand peoples' experiences participating in the UO E-bike Lending Library program. Specifically we're interested in understanding how participants used the e-bike, program satisfaction, general perceptions of using an e-bike in Eugene, and anticipated use of e-bikes in the future. Participants will be asked during the program sign up whether they would like to participate in the research project. Transportation Services appreciates anyone willing to participate but participation in the research is not a requirement of the program.
If you have questions about the research study please contact Professor Anne Brown at abrown33@uoregon.edu.
